Poch, Patrick Patrick Poch Petschar, Hans Hans Petschar Böhlau 2018-06 Die Porträtsammlung des Kaisers Franz I. von Österreich (1768-1835) ist ein seltenes Beispiel einer fürstlichen Bildnissammlung, die noch in ihrer ursprünglichen, vom Kaiser persönlich konzipierten Aufstellung erhalten ist. Die Publikation möchte die historische Entwicklung dieses Modells habsburgischer Sammelkultur erstmals in ihrer Gesamtheit untersuchen, sowie deren Positionierung im Umfeld vergleichbarer zeitgenössischer Sammlungen wie jener des Prinzen Eugen von Savoyen oder des Bürgerkönigs Louis-Philippe I. von Frankreich. The portrait collection of Emperor Francis I of Austria (1768-1835) is one of the rare examples of an aristocratic portrait collection that has been preserved. The aim of the study is to shed light on the history of this example of the Habsburgian culture of collecting and to reconstruct the development of the collection. The specific characteristic of the classification system is compared to other reconstructable collections of the 18th century like those of Prince Eugene of Savoy and of Louis Philippe I, King of the French.
