FWF Austrian Science Fund Myths in German-language Textbooks. Their Influence on Historical Accounts from the Battle of Marathon to the Élysée Treaty Dieser Band befasst sich mit Formen und Funktionen von europäischen wie nationalen Mythen in den deutschsprachigen Schulbüchern Deutschlands, Österreichs und der Schweiz von der Schlacht bei Salamis über den Behaim-Globus bis zum Elysée-Vertrag. Dabei wird auch nach unterschiedlichen Zugängen zum Mythos-Begriff in den Kulturwissenschaften und in der Geschichtsdidaktik sowie den sich hieraus ergebenden Impulsen gefragt. Die Schwierigkeiten der De-Konstruktion populärer Geschichtsmythen werden ebenso diskutiert wie die Tradierungsbedürfnisse und Deutungsmuster, die diese Mythen bedienen. This volume investigates the shape and functions of European and national myths in German-language textbooks in Germany, Austria and Switzerland – from the Battle of Salamis to Behaim’s globe to the Élysée Treaty. It considers different approaches to the notion of ‘myth’ in cultural studies and history didactics, as well as the impetuses these approaches produce.
