The focus of the monograph is the first critical edition of the metaphrase of the Psalms composed in verse by the Byzantine author Manuel Philes (14th century). In the extensive introductory chapters, Philes' method of reworking in terms of style, vocabulary, grammar, and syntax is meticulously described.
