Rahmer's work is situated within the broader framework of the Wissenschaft des Judentums. Die Studie analysiert und kommentiert den Hauptteil der 1861 verfassten Dissertation des Breslauer Rabbinatskandidaten Moritz Rahmer ,,Die hebräischen Traditionen in den Werken des Hieronymus". Rahmer zeigt darin die Einflüsse spätantiker jüdischer Bibelauslegung auf die Quaestiones in Genesin des Hieronymus. Rahmers Werk wird in den Kontext der Wissenschaft des Judentums eingeordnet.
