nsurance, which emerged in Europe during the late Middle Ages, was only fully legally institutionalized in the 19th century. Unknown in the lslamic world until colonialism, it has sparked significant debates as a Western cultural import, particularly since the "lslamic revival" of the 1970s. This interdisciplinary project investigates the development of commercial insurance in the specific context of the lslamic Republic of Iran, focusing on key factors influencing its establishment within unique political, legal, economic, and climatic environments.
